Safety Plan

A safety plan is a personalized, practical plan that includes ways to remain safe while in a relationship, planning to leave, or after you leave. Safety planning involves how to cope with emotions, tell friends and family about the abuse, take legal action and more.

A good safety plan will have all of the vital information you need and be tailored to your unique situation, and will help walk you through different scenarios and stressful moments.

Emergency Preparedness

A safety plan equips individuals with practical strategies to handle emergencies effectively. It outlines steps to take in moments of crisis, such as whom to contact for immediate assistance, where to seek shelter, and how to ensure personal safety.

Emotional Support

In addition to practical steps, a safety plan also addresses emotional needs. It includes coping strategies for managing stress, fear, and trauma, providing emotional support and reassurance during times of distress.

Risk Reduction

By identifying potential risks and triggers, a safety plan helps mitigate the likelihood of further harm. It includes measures to minimize exposure to dangerous situations and avoid escalating confrontations, ultimately reducing the risk of injury or harm.

Individuals Needs

Each person's situation is unique, and a safety plan is tailored to address specific circumstances and concerns. Whether it involves considerations for children, pets, financial resources, or cultural factors, a personalized safety plan ensures that individuals have the support and resources they need to stay safe.
